Local ACE Coalitions

ACE/FAAE
Although we think globally, we must act locally. Twenty-two local ACE Coalitions are working to ensure the place of arts education in their local schools and communities. Local ACE Coalitions bring together diverse groups of people who share a common interest is arts and arts education and unite to advance this common cause. The most effective arts coalitions represent a broad cross-section of the community, including:

  • Local arts agency personnel;
  • Artists;
  • Education personnel from professional arts organizations such as symphonies, theatres, dance troupes, etc.;
  • Business professionals;
  • Chamber of Commerce representatives;
  • Parents;
  • Non-arts classroom teachers;
  • Administrators;
  • Arts teachers; and
  • Other community members.

During 2007-2008, Regional ACE Coalition meetings will be held throughout the State to provide information on current issues and opportunities for arts education in Florida.

Florida ACE/FAAE will continue to support Local ACE Coalition development, in order to:

  • Strengthen existing networks of support for arts education across Florida;
  • Strengthen the relationship between schools and community cultural resources;
  • Identify and share meaningful strategies being used in Florida dramatically improve student literacy and academic performance through the arts.
