Start with the Arts

Connecting
Florida Arts, Schools, and Communities
This project, a partnership between ACE/FAAE and VSA arts of
Florida, is based on “Start with the Arts” (SWTA),
an arts-integrated, early-childhood curriculum written and disseminated,
at cost, through VSA National (www.vsarts.org).

These materials focus
on four areas:
- How I Go from Here to There
- All About Me
- Feeling Hot, Cold, and Wet
- The World Around Me
The Florida adaptation of SWTA is comprised of arts-integrated
curricular and supplemental materials for use by K-3 general
classroom and arts teachers to foster skills development important
for all children, particularly those having special needs. These
materials include:
The project also includes a Teacher’s Guide, in poster
format, with arts-specific lesson prompts at each grade level
