• Polk County Public Schools recieves Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Ntaional School Boards Association Award. Singled out from nominees around the country for their ourstanding supoprt of high-quality arts education, school board members accepted the award at the National School Boards Association's Annual Conference. • Florida Students selected for Kennedy Center/National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Summer Music Institute: a 4-week summer music program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, for student instrumentalists. The program is designed for serious music students. Each student accepted into the Program attends on full scholarship.
